Undersheriff Jeff Frieze was born and raised in Douglas County, Oregon. While a student attending North Douglas High School, Undersheriff Frieze worked for several companies, such as Bohemia Plywood, North Douglas Wood Products and Texaco.
Education
He graduated from high school in 1993 and went on to attend Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon, as well as Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. During his college years, he worked for Rosboro Lumber Company, as well as a logger for independent operations in the Drain, Oregon area.
Work History
In 1996, Jeff began attending weekly night classes at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. In August, 1997, he was accepted by the Sutherlin Police Department as a Reserve Officer. In March, 1998, he was hired by the department as a full-time sworn officer. In August, 2002, Jeff was promoted to the rank of Corporal for the Sutherlin Police Department.
Douglas County Experience
In December of 2002, the Undersheriff joined the Douglas County Sheriff's Office as full-time sworn Patrol Deputy. During his tenure with the Sheriff's Office, he served as a member of the department's Tactical Response Team (TRT); a member of the Douglas County Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT), as well as Drug Detective K9 Handler.
In 2008, Undersheriff Frieze was promoted to the rank of Corporal, followed by a promotion to Sergeant in 2009. From 2009 to 2017, Jeff served as the sole sergeant of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Drain and Reedsport substations.
In November of 2017, Jeff was promoted to the rank of Patrol Lieutenant, then again promoted to Undersheriff in January, 2018.
Hobbies
In his personal time, the Undersheriff is heavily involved as a volunteer with the North Douglas School District. He is currently serving as Chair of the North Douglas High School Board.
