The National Weather Service is advising that another series of storms is forecast to impact SW Oregon starting this evening into Tuesday of next week. This is a good opportunity to remind citizens, particularly those who live near streams or areas prone to flooding, to be prepared.
Douglas County does not provide sand bags. If your property might be susceptible to problems, plan ahead and have materials on hand to address your needs.
Some possible locations for sand bags are local home or ranch supply stores. Additionally if local vendors are out of stock, there are other suppliers in Oregon, it just takes advance planning. This is just one area of preparedness. Citizens are strongly encouraged to take personal preparedness seriously. Disasters do happen and citizens need to be prepared. There are many lessons from the recent hurricane Sandy on the east coast. Prepare ahead of time. Information can be found at: www.ready.gov , http://www.redcross.org/prepare
