Over the past two weeks the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Reedsport Police Department have been investigating multiple business burglaries in the Winchester Bay area.
Earlier this morning at approximately 0305 hours, Deputy Lohf witnessed two males attempting to break into the Village Roastery in Winchester Bay. The two males broke the glass out of the business door and attempted entry. Officer Marchini and Officer Corcoran with the Reedsport Police Department stopped the two suspects at Deputy Lohf's request. Officer Corcoran and Marchini assisted Deputy Lohf with the investigation. Both suspects were taken into custody. Deputy Stanley took over the investigation later that morning and interviewed both suspects. Both suspects were charged with three additional Winchester Bay business burglaries.
Deputy Stanley and Deputy Lohf later recovered the cash register stolen from the Crabby Cafe burglary last week.
Christopher Mobley and Christopher Edwards were both charged with one count of Attempted Burglary in the first degree, 3 counts of Burglary in the second degree, one count of Criminal Mischief in the first degree, three counts of Criminal Mischief in the second degree, and two counts of Theft in the second degree.
