On Saturday, April 24th, 2010, just after midnight, two men entered into the Narrows Tavern located in the Idleyld Park area. Both men were wearing masks and one of the men was brandishing a shotgun. The men made a demand for money, but ran from the business after being confronted by other persons at the tavern. A patron of the tavern was able to obtain a partial license plate of the vehicle that the two men were suspected of leaving in.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded to the initial report. The ensuing investigation led the responding law enforcement officers to a residence in the 100 Block of Rock Creek Road, Idleyld Park, where the suspect vehicle was located. While watching the residence, Deputies observed two men matching the description of the suspects, walking towards the trailer. Both the men were detained without incident by the Deputies.
A search warrant was served at the residence as well as on two separate vehicles located at the property, including the one the men were observed leaving the scene in. Detectives recovered the clothing worn by the suspects, as well as other articles involved in the robbery. The Detectives also seized illegal drugs, as well as a stolen rifle from out of state.
The two men, Nathan Baker age 22 of Glide, and William Saxton age 22 of Idleyld Park were lodged at the Douglas County Jail on Armed Robbery charges. The investigation is continuing and more charges against the two men are anticipated.
No further information will be available until Monday morning.
