Since December 15th, 2009, the Sheriff's Office has been conducting an investigation into the theft of funds from the North Douglas High School student body fund (money collected from students for various student activities).
During an audit of school funds, school staff noticed money missing that should have been in various accounts in the student body fund.
The Sheriff’s Office, working with the North Douglas School District and their fraud auditor, was able to determine that the theft totaled approximately $5,000.00.
On Wednesday, January 27, 2010, former North Douglas High School Office Manager, Sherri Tinnes was contacted and interviewed regarding the theft. After the interview, Tinnes was booked and released from Douglas County Corrections on the charges of Theft I, Official Misconduct I, and Tampering with Public Records.
