On November 27, 2009, at approximately 2254 hours, Douglas County Sheriff's Deputies responded to Mercy Medical Center regarding a subject in the Emergency Room with stab wounds. Gerardo Torres was contacted at the hospital and found to have multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.
While Torres was being interviewed, Douglas County Deputies responded to the Melrose area for a subject requesting contact by Law Enforcement regarding an assault.
Deputies located Manuel Aguirre in the 3700 block of Melrose Road. Aguirre had injuries to the head and face that required medical attention.
Douglas County Sheriff's Detectives were contacted and they responded to investigate the incident.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Aguirre and Torres were involved in an physical altercation with each other. During the course of the altercation, Aguirre produced a knife and stabbed Torres several times.
Due to the information obtained during the investigation, no arrests were made at this time. The case will be referred to the Douglas County Grand Jury.
There will be no additional information in this case until Monday, November 30, 2009.
