On Tuesday, October 13th, 2009, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 256 Third Street, Glendale, Oregon.

The search warrant was for Robert Boise, who possessed several active felony warrants for his arrest from Lane County, as well as being wanted by the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety for an armed robbery that occurred in the City of Grants Pass. Robert Boise was found to be previously convicted of felony crimes such as theft, drug possession, felon in possession of firearms, and sex crimes.

Earlier in the day, Detectives from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety had come to the residence to speak with Robert Boise about the robbery. While there, they located another subject who was wanted in connection to the armed robbery. That person was taken into custody. The Detectives learned that Robert Boise was in the residence, and that he was possibly in possession of a firearm. Robert Boise refused to come out of the residence so a request for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team was made.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Detectives Division responded, and continued to attempt to talk to Robert Boise into surrendering. Robert Boise did not respond to the continued attempts. An evacuation of the surrounding neighbors was made. A search warrant was obtained from Douglas County Circuit Courts, with the assistance of the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

On 10-13-09, at about 2130 hours, the search warrant was served at the residence by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team. Robert Boise refused to surrender, even with the tactical team members announcing that they were in the residence. It was found upon entering that Robert Boise had barricaded himself in a small room in the downstairs portion of the residence.

The tactical team deployed gas to attempt to get Robert Boise to surrender. Robert Boise was overcome by the gas, and rather then surrendering, attempted to escape from the residence by jumping through a window. He was then taken into custody. A loaded firearm was located in the residence.

There were no injuries to law enforcement. Robert Boise suffered minor injuries, which occurred when he jumped through the window in an effort to escape. He was treated at the scene by Glendale Ambulance.

While at the residence, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Patrol Deputies recognized other pieces of property in the residence as being stolen from recent burglaries and thefts from automobiles in the Glendale area. The investigation into the recovery of the stolen property is being continued by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert Boise was transported to the Josephine County Jail, where he is being held on the outstanding warrants, as well as for the armed robbery. More charges on Robert Boise are expected to be filed in Douglas County related to the recovered firearm, as well as possession of stolen property.
