**Update**
On 10-01-09, at about 1925 hours, the Douglas County Communications Center received a call that two persons were shot in a residence located on Azalea Glen Road, in the Azalea area.
Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from the Oregon State Police responded to the scene and found two persons in the residence who were apparently shot. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene, the second was transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass. The survivor’s condition is unknown.
The Douglas County Major Crimes Team was activated and began an investigation into the incident. The team is following up on numerous leads, but no arrests have been made at this time.
The Major Crimes Team is looking for a person of interest. The person is described to be of average stature, and has a beard. This person was seen on foot in the area around the time of the shooting. The Major Crimes Team is asking for anyone who has seen this person, or anyone who seemed suspicious to please contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 957-2099.
