Douglas
County encourages responsible pet ownership, Douglas County Animal Control is currently staffed with three uniformed officers and one clerical assistant. The officers handle complaints and investigations throughout Douglas County. The office staff provides dog licensing, receives complaints from the public and processes reports. Douglas County Animal Control works in conjunction with other local law enforcement and health agencies, the Umpqua Valley Humane Society, Saving Grace Animal Shelter, and the Roseburg SPCA, to provide the community with necessary enforcement and education to provide for the welfare of all domestic animals. Douglas County currently contracts the animal shelter to Saving Grace Animal Shelter. Our contract guarantees that the citizens of our county can take stray dogs, cats, and owner released animals to the shelter without any fee. A small donation is appreciated to help defray shelter costs, but it is not required. Saving Grace Animal Shelter
