Close the
accounts that you know, or believe, have been tampered with or
opened fraudulently, including banking and credit cards.

File a report
with your local police or the police in the community where the
identity theft took place.

File a complaint
with the Federal Trade Commission.

An amendment to the federal Fair Credit Report Act requires each
of the major nationwide consumer reporting companies to provide you
with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every
12 months.
